The police have confirmed that the bodies of 3 adults and a 2-year old boy have been found at a poultry processing factory alongside Jalan Batu Maung on 13 July.

The deceased were identified as the factory owner, Toh Hock Choon, 50; his wife Tan Saw Sim, 55; Tan’s son, Chung Wah Thong and Chung’s 2 years old son, as confirmed by Penang police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Datuk Razaruddin Husain.

The CID chief also told the press that the incident is believed to have happened around 2.45 a.m. after a quarrel broke out between Toh and the prime suspect which is Toh’s other stepson, aged 32.

Razaruddin said that the killer is suspected to have murdered the 3 adults initially before shooting the child.

“We believe when he shot the three victims, the two-year-old heard the commotion and came down the stairs where she too was shot.”

Early investigations found that the prime suspect is a drug addict and has often fought with the family.

Razaruddin also added, “a CCTV recording showed the suspect rummaging through things in the factory premises before he got into an argument with his stepfather.”

It is believed that the motive of the killer was to get more money to purchase drugs.

A total of 11 bullet casing of a 9-mm semi automatic weapon was found at the crime scene, which the police believed to have been fired at a short range.

“He is believed to have shot the victims with the semi-automatic weapon and escaped in a Toyota Hilux with the plate number PLJ 7392.”, said Razaruddin.

A massive manhunt is now underway for the 32-year old armed suspect with patrol cars being deployed and borders alerted.

Police are also trying to locate the mother of the 2-year old who lives in Georgetown. Officials only know the toddler’s nickname as Ah Bee at this point of time.

The public is encouraged to come forth should if they have any information on the incident or suspect.

With all the recent shootings happening in Malaysia, the public has been seen questioning on social media about how accessible it is to possess a firearm in this country.
