What’s the best solution you can come up with to solve a bullying problem? Hire a ‘scary uncle’ to protect you!

Yep, you read that right the first time. In South Korea, you can actually hire a scary uncle to protect your kids against bullies who make their life difficult, reported All Kpop. The Uncle Service is a booming business in that country as more parents are utilising this service to protect their kids from mean bullies. Do you think we should start one here too?

This service comes in three packages that provide different types of favours. The packages are:

1. The “Uncle Package”

The uncles from this package are usually big and intimidating men who are in their 30s to 40s. They are required to give stern warnings to the bullies and accompany the student to and from school.

Price per day: 500,000 KRW (approx. RM1,842)

2. The “Evidence Package”

Now, this one takes it up a notch!

These uncles will collect evidence of bullying by filming the act with mini cameras. Then, they will report it to the school and say these exact words: “I’ll submit an official complaint to the school board if you guys do not properly investigate the case. We want a clear resolution”.

Price per evidence: 400,000 KRW (approx. RM1,473)

3. The “Chaperone Package”

If everything fails, the ‘Chaperone Package’ is the final strike, literally.

These uncles will visit the bullies’ parents’ working place and protest in front of their office building whilst chanting: “A parent of a bully works here”. They will do this protest for up to four visits.

Price: 2 million KRW (approx. RM7,369)

It’s quite an interesting service, don’t you think?

Even though the business is flourishing as more people are utilising the Uncle Service, some are really concerned about the negative impact it can leave on society. Korea University’s Professor Kim Yoon Tae was quoted as saying,

“Private sanction is just another form of violence. School violence needs to be resolved by improving the system.”

Do you agree with him?

South Korea is surely known for providing unorthodox services that are considered outlandish and creative at the same time. For instance, previously, they introduced a service, Oh My Oppa, where you can hire an ‘Oppa’ to show you around their country. Pretty creative and bizarre, right?

Do you wish you had this service when you were back in school? If you’re a parent, would you use this service to protect your kids? Let us know in the comments below!
