It’s normal for colleagues to tease and poke fun at each other on a daily basis (after all, we do spend at least 40 hours a week with them) but this incident has gotten out of hand!

The Star reported that a 57-year-old woman was stabbed and strangled to death by her 28-year-old male colleague yesterday afternoon (July 11).

The victim, Zaimah Mahmod, who worked as an administrative assistant at a vocational college in Telok Datok, Banting for the last 18 years, was found dead in the storeroom of the college’s administration office with several stab wounds on her neck and body.

According to NST, Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Azizan Tukiman said the suspect had made a phone call to the police and confessed to the murder.

“When he called the police at 2.40pm, the man (suspect) said he had stabbed and strangled a woman to death.”

The suspect, who only began working at the college as a laboratory assistant three months ago, was found sitting calmly beside the victim’s body when the police arrived.

Azizan further stated that the suspect was believed to have harboured ill feelings because he was constantly mocked by the victim.

“The victim who was a single mother was said to have constantly teased the suspect for having an affair with another staff at the college.”

It was also reported that the suspect, who once attempted suicide, had been undergoing stress management treatment at a hospital.

The suspect was taken into custody and the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The victim’s body was taken to Banting District Hospital for a post-mortem.

Our condolences to the deceased’s friends and family. Hopefully the cops can get to the bottom of this and solve the matter appropriately.
