Bangkok is one of the most popular destinations, not only for Malaysians, but internationally! So when you’re sitting there, planning to head on over to the Land of Smiles, the question remains: where do I stay?

Here’s a list I’ve put together and it’s not just any list. It’s a compilation of the most convenient and highly rated hostels that you’re sure to love, especially if you’re not familiar with Bangkok. What’s more, they are all below RM40 a night! Nope I’ve not done countless hours of hostel research because of my next trip there.

1. Thrive The Hostel

The place has a unique industrial design that elevates the whole ambiance by giving it a modern look. Thrive hostel tries their best to make their guests feel comfortable and at home. They even have a garden, games room and nice common area for travelers to relax.

This 2.5-star hostel commands an excellent location and most importantly is only a 6 minute walk away from Silom MRT Station.

2. A7 Hidden Hostel

Located right beside Nana BTS station (under one minute away), A7 Hidden Hostel is super convenient to get around. There are amazing drink spots in Soi 11 which is just literally the next street and a cool airport themed mall, Terminal 21 which is a 10 minute walk away. Not to mention, the Nana nightlife just down the street if you’re seeking for something more wild 😉

Located in Khaosan, Here Hostel Bangkok is only 1.8 km from the city center and the place is beautifully designed, PLUS it has a slide! The highlight of staying in Khao San is none other than the wild nightlife experience in Khao San Road which is only an 11 minute walk away. Convenient yet far enough from the loud music of Khao San Road itself!

4. The Blocks Hostel

The hostel is located in a quiet alley just right next to the main road and it is situated between two BTS stations, Asok and Nana. Choose your pick which station you want to go to because they are both only a 4 minute walk away. Besides that, there’s a nice mall 5 minutes down the street from the hostel.

Unlike most hostels, this place offers a lift so you don’t have to lug your heavy baggage up flights of stairs. So it’s definitely a plus!

5. CheQinn Bangkok Hostel

Besides a nice play on words, CheQinn offers three chic styles of guestroom, with each equipped with linens, blankets, pillows, and towels. The hostel is only 6 minutes walk away from Nana BTS station and is secluded enough for travelers to enjoy a good night’s sleep amidst the busy city.

Travelers mainly enjoyed the convenient of its location as bars, restaurants and convenience stores are highly accessible. Though if you’re not the type who enjoy the wild nightlife, you may want to reconsider.

6. Boxpackers Hostel

Boxpackers is known for their comfort and value for money. It is 6 minutes away from the airport rail link so it is super convenient to get to if you’re coming from Suvarnabhumi airport. The nearest BTS station is 10 minutes walk away, but the place is surrounded with Bangkok’s famous malls like Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam Market and Pantip Plaza IT Mall that will keep your eyes busy (and maybe wallets empty).

7. Analog Hostel

Analog Hostel has amazed travellers with its price, hygiene and hospitality that makes anyone feel instantly at home. The beautiful vintage and industrial theme of the hostel was designed by the owners themselves. The place is located just 8 minutes walk away from a BTS station and is situation between Emporium and Terminal 21 mall.

An additional plus is that the owner of the hostel homes two very adorable and very friendly doggies to guests to play with.

8. Everyday Bangkok Hostel

With beautiful art filling their room walls, guests can expect a cosy stay at this hostel. The MRT Sam Yan station is 6 minutes away and the location is blessed with a nearby mall Chamchuri Square and the great Silom nightlife. You’d be excited to know they even have a washing machine and dryer for laundry! Just don’t bring a huge luggage because rooms go up to 5 floors and it’s stairs all the way!

9. The Local Surasak Hostel

Sathorn is not your mainstream place to stay but the area does offer its very own unique qualities. Complete with wooden finishes, the hostel’s design exudes warmth which reminds anyone of a cosy English cottage. Some of the main highlights of Surasak include Blue Elephant restaurant, Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple and Kathmandu Photo Gallery.

If you’re feeling a little fancy, head to The Roof @ 38th Bar which is only a 7 minute walk away. Of course, we can’t forget the most important thing: accessibility! The Surasak BTS station takes 6 minutes to walk to.

10. Yodsiam Hostel

The Yodsiam Hostel draws travelers from all around the world with its beautifully designed colours, art and fancy furniture. Located beside Bangkok Riverside, the hostel has a terrace that overlooks the river and makes it the perfect place to chill and unwind.

Although a little less convenient that other hostels in terms of public transportation, the place is a treasure on its own especially with the flower market downstairs and is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a less busy vacation in Bangkok city.
