It’s completely normal for kids to misbehave, and it’s really the parents’ responsibility to ensure that they’re brought up well. But this doesn’t mean that kids won’t stop misbehaving.

A 31-year-old man from Arizona murdered his six-year-old son when he tried to perform an exorcism on him.

Martinez said that his son had a “fit of unnatural rage” during his bath and believed that it was because of a demon. He then took scalding hot water from the water tap and poured it down the boy’s throat.

After that, he held his son under water for between five to ten minutes with the belief that hot water was “ridding him of a demon,” according to Daily Mail.

Gurgling noises coming from the bathroom were heard by the boy’s adoptive mother, Romelia, who told Martinez to stop. She tried to enter the bathroom, but the door was locked.

At this time, Martinez shouted at her that he “had to do it”.

However, instead of calling the police, Romelia called a pastor who did not answer the phone. Only then did she call the police while Martinez himself poured cold water and performed CPR on his son.

But his attempt at saving his son was unsuccessful. When the authorities arrived, the boy was lying naked on a pillow and not breathing.

He was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had suffered 15 percent burns on his body, mostly on his head, forearms and elbows.

Martinez was then brought in for investigation, and after persistent questioning, he finally said, “I did it!”

He then told investigators that he had only done what he did because he started noticing a demon in his son the previous week. But it wasn’t just him, his wife also said that the boy had been “acting demonic”.

Martinez was arrested on charges of first-degree murder.

“Everybody’s just stunned,” a neighbour said.

“My kids were playing and just, we heard screaming, a man screaming and from there we saw an ambulance come and after not even two seconds later, they come with the boy outside. His hands were just dangling.”

“What he did is unacceptable and I want him to get what he deserves. He doesn’t even deserve to see the daylight anymore.”
