She died from asphyxiation

The man was accused of killing his 46-year-old wife between 2:30 AM and 9:30 AM on May 9, 2021, in their apartment bedroom in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

During the trial, the judge pointed out that the 11th prosecution witness confirmed the victim died from asphyxiation, likely from someone covering her mouth and nose.

One of their sons, who testified as the 14th prosecution witness, said that the night before the incident, their mother told her 3 kids she was planning to divorce their father. The next morning, the kids found her dead in the bedroom.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison

High Court Judge Muniandy ruled yesterday (March 26) that the accused was guilty of killing his wife.

After hearing arguments from both sides, as well as statements from the victim’s sister and youngest child about how the crime affected them, the judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison, starting from his arrest on May 11, 2021.

The judge said the man’s defense didn’t cast any reasonable doubt on the case. He admitted to sleeping in the same bed with his wife that night but couldn’t explain how she ended up injured despite being with him the whole time.
