An accident in Ipoh involving a police car has tragically taken the life of a 3-year-old boy.
The fatal crash occurred when the driver of a Perodua Kelisa lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Honda Civic. The Kelisa driver and two police officers were also injured in the collision.

In an official statement this morning (11 February), Ipoh Police Chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the crash occurred on Tuesday (10 February) at approximately 3:35 PM on Jalan Lumut, Perak. The 3-year-old boy sustained major injuries and was rushed to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB), but succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
A post-mortem for the boy was scheduled for this morning. Images of the accident have also circulated on social media, showing the extent of the damage. The injured driver and police officers were taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Dashcam footage retrieved, no arrests made
At the time of writing, the PDRM has seized both vehicles involved and obtained dashcam footage to assist with the investigation.
The matter is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. No arrests have been made as of now.

In the meantime, PDRM urges witnesses with relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
