A 17-year-old student died after he was allegedly hit by a drunk driver at Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur this morning (22 September) at 3am. The victim, identified as Hakimi Romli, died at the scene due to severe injuries on his head.

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief, Assistant Commissioner Zulkifly Yahya, the incident happened after a car driven by a 36-year-old man rammed into some shops at the location of the incident after driving diagonally on the road.

“The motorcyclist who was driving straight on Jalan Raja Laut did not have time to dodge the car before hitting the front side door of the vehicle,” he said.

“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.”

Zulkifly added that the driver of the car took an Evidential Breath Analyser (EBA) and the results confirmed that there was alcohol in his body.
