Hah! How about that? The Millennial Romeo and Juliet.

Romantic, adventurous and fun relationships are the stuff of every teenage girl’s dreams, but they need to know where the line lies. Running away with your sweetheart always sounds enchanting – but know that it’s almost always a bad choice.

As reported on China Press, Xiao Zhang, 12, had been yearning to run away from her home so that she could be together with her 15-year-old boyfriend, Xiao Lei, after having an argument with her parents.

Secretly, they contemplated their options and came up with a plan; Xiao Lei would travel on a train from his house in Taiyuan, Shanxi and pick up Xiao Zhang at her house area in Dazhou, Sichuan before taking her back to his house.

When the girl’s father discovered that she ran away with her online boyfriend, he quickly contacted the railway police on 26th November.

Days later, the Jilin Railway Public Security exposed a video of how the couple had been discovered travelling by themselves on the train.

When questioned, Xiao Lei admitted that they had only gotten to know each other through an online video game a few months back and have been dating since.

After having a conflict with her parents, Xiao Zhang refused to stay at her home. She originally planned to look for her boyfriend in Taiyuan and live with him. She intended to only go back to her parents once she found a job.

Even when caught, Xiao Lei’s determination remained unwavering. He insisted that he was able to support them both, claiming that he earned 1,800 yuan (RM1,065) per month. He planned to rent out a place and guaranteed an enjoyable online gaming life at home for Xiao Zhang.

And if all hope was lost, he would take her abroad, and surely support her overseas. #dawww

With the help of some passengers, the police officers managed to counsel the two lovebirds and took them back to their respective parents.

Thankfully, according to China Press, Xiao Zhang’s parents were contacted by the police in Dazhou afterwards, and she was sent back home.

They are cute but please do not condone this kind of decision. Please remember that teenagers tend to be a bit more dramatic and reckless.
