Woman Arrested in Perlis for Beating Her 4yo Child, Causing the Girl to Hit Her Head on a Bench Outside a Supermarket

A 37-year-old canteen worker got arrested after CCTV footage went viral, showing her slapping her child a few times, causing the kid to fall on the ground outside a supermarket.

Harian Metro reported how the police arrested her near Mata Ayer after she was accused of hitting and hurting her child in the supermarket’s front corridor in Jejawi, Perlis.

The child hit her head on a bench and bled

Arau District Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi, said that they received a report around 12:16 AM today (February 11) regarding the woman’s actions.

“The viral video shows the suspect hitting the back of a young girl’s head, causing her to hit the corner of a bench and bleed,” he explained.

He also added that the incident is suspected to have occurred in front of the sidewalk of the supermarket in Jejawi, Arau, and the suspect will be brought to court for remand to assist in the investigation.

The child received treatment for her injury

Mohsin added that the victim’s 4-year-old child had an injury on the right eyebrow and had already received follow-up treatment after the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
