An employee at a cosmetic shop in Kuantan recently filed a police report after unknowingly handing her jewellery to a customer on November 14.

The victim handed a customer RM4,000 worth of her jewellery

The victim explained that around 4 PM, the customer came into the shop and began inquiring about the cosmetic products sold there and about the jewellery that the victim was wearing.

Without realising it, the victim unknowingly handed over her jewellery, worth RM4,000, to the customer. She only noticed the items were missing after the customer had left the shop.

“The suspect inquired about the cosmetic items sold in the shop and made small talk about the jewellery the victim was wearing. According to the victim, she unknowingly handed over a bracelet, a chain, and a gold ring to the suspect,” the statement read.

She had never met the suspect before

Kuantan district police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the victim claimed she had never met the female suspect before.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

Police are asking the public to help find the suspect who’s believed to be a woman in her 40s. If anyone has info, they’re urged to contact the nearest police station.
