What do you do when you have a lot of money, or in other words, you’re filthy rich? Some people would see investment as an option, while others may see it as an opportunity to upgrade their lives.

For veteran Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat, all he has ever wanted to do is to keep his hard-earned money, but recently, he donated his assets worth HKD5.6 billion (approximately RM3.3 billion)!

Chow, who has been in the film industry for 5 decades now, is always known for his humble personality and lifestyle, as he is sometimes spotted taking public transport in HK or dining in at local restaurants.

What actually motivated the legendary actor to donate his assets? In a recent media press at the Busan International Film Festival, Chow revealed that he never wanted to donate his assets. It was his wife, Jasmine Tan’s idea.

Throughout their marriage, Jasmine has always been the figure who controls the finances of the family.

“I receive a monthly allowance of a few thousand dollars from my wife for spending.”

He added that he has never wanted to donate because “it was all his hard-earned money” and admitted that he has no idea about how much has actually been donated. However, he eventually gave in to the idea of donating his assets.

“When I came to this world, I had nothing. When I die, I can’t bring anything to the grave. So, to those who need it, just take it.”

Imagine making an entire fortune throughout your decades of career and eventually giving a huge chunk of it away. Regardless, Chow’s willingness to listen to his wife and agree with her idea is truly admirable.

Do you see yourself being this generous if you have assets worth millions or billions? Let us know in the comments.
