Most of us were shocked with the viral accident that had occurred earlier this morning along the Sultan Iskandar Highway. It involved a drunk driver crashing into a 44-year-old FoodPanda delivery rider, and tragically claimed the innocent man’s life.

It has been revealed that the drunk driver who had caused the accident has been hauled to court after being charged this afternoon.

21-year-old Khor Yong Zhang, who works as a shop assistant at an auto accessories store, was behind the wheel of a black Nissan Grand Livina MPV early this morning at 1.30 am, when he rammed into 44-year-old FoodPanda delivery rider Mohamed Zaili Mohamed’s motorbike from behind.

The impact flung Mr Mohamed Zaili off his motorbike and onto the road shoulder, killing him at the scene. His motorbike on the other hand was dragged under Mr Khor’s car for over 2km before coming to a stop after members of the public intervened.

Presently, Mr Khor faces charges under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence, which may carry a jail term of between three to 10 years, and a fine of RM20,000 if found guilty. He pleaded not guilty to his charges, according to NST.

At present, the court has set bail for Mr Khor at RM4,000 while suspending his license.
