Our nation’s beloved Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s continuous and outstanding contributions to not only the Malaysian public health sector but also her drug abuse control initiatives have landed her a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award from Asia Human Resources Development (HRD) at their Asia HRD Awards 2019.
The event, which took place at the Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), recognizes the achievements of those dedicated towards the development of the masses.
According to Bernama, a statement released by the event highlights Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s many roles that contributed to her cause, including her presidencies with the Malaysian Girl Guides Association, the Malaysian Medical Association Foundation and the Association for the Rehabilitation of Handicapped Children.
“Dr Siti Hasmah is a pioneer and an inspiring role model for women in Malaysia and around the world. She stands out as one person who has made a huge impact on the nation with her courage, tenacity, and strength in character,” the statement added.
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah had shed tears as she ended her acceptance speech, crediting her late father, Mohd Ali Taib, for her achievements, as he had forced her into medical school and made her into the person she is today.
“I wish he could witness me receiving this award tonight,” she said.
During the event, guests even sang her the birthday song, in light of her birthday last Friday (12th July).
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah will now join the Asia HRD Awards’ Hall of Fame, which honours over 250 recipients from 20 countries for their humanitarian efforts.
We couldn’t be any more happy for you, Tun Dr Siti! We thank you so much for all your efforts.
