According to Malaysia’s prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Tenaga Nasional Berhad will offer a one-off 100 per cent rebate for the electricity bill for the month of December to those who are affected by the recent floods.
A total of 72,000 TNB’s domestic customers would benefit from this power bill rebate. However, the prime minister said that the rebate does not involve factories, but houses.
“This is an extension of the assistance given, so the December electricity bill is given a rebate,” he said in a press conference on 26 December after visiting areas affected by floods, as reported by BERNAMA.
“I have also asked TNB to help B40 homes affected by the floods when the electricity supply is reconnected,” he added. Besides, he also said that Perodua has agreed to waive the labour charges to repair and service the affected vehicles.
Perodua also offers free towing service for its vehicles and a 50 per cent discount on spare parts. “I hope other companies can follow what Perodua is doing,” the prime minister added.
