Fellow bosses, how do you reward your employees for a job well done? It’s not an easy task to reach the designated KPIs, especially those who have to deal with clients without upsetting them.
As employees, let’s be honest! Not many of us are fans of annual dinners because we would prefer something that “pushes” us more or something that gives us more satisfaction after an entire hectic year. A Taiwanese content creator and employer knew exactly what his staff wanted, so he skipped the “boring” annual dinner.
He replaced the food with cash instead
Everyone in the office got Angpow worth RM1,500 each! So basically instead on spending on the annual dinner, management decided to distribute the money evenly to all employees. And they have decided to do without annual dinners for good! A splendid idea, we must say!
“Starting this year, I’m cancelling annual dinner. My staff don’t enjoy having dinner with clients and bosses, they said it is stressful,” he said in his Facebook post.
Knowing that the annual banquet is giving the employees the pressure they don’t deserve, he decided to “convert” the annual event into cash, effective this year. He came up with this decision not only to make the staff happy but also to leave a good impression of the workplace.
“I’m slowly turning the office into a place that everyone likes. I think that’s a good thing.”
Despite the massive change, one thing that will remain is the monthly team gathering. If that forms a stronger and healthier bond, we don’t see why not.
In his post, he also joked about the decision to cancel the annual dinner, saying,
“It’s probably because many of my workers didn’t win major prizes in the lucky draw. They thought they were unlucky.”
He assured that everyone in the office, regardless of the duration of their employment receives the same amount of Angpow. Nothing more, nothing less.
A positive working environment with an understanding boss, a 2-in-1 package that everyone dreams of. Have you had the luxury of experiencing both at your workplace? To the employers out there, what do you think about converting annual dinners into cash?
