A 25-year-old transwoman in Pattaya, Thailand was brutally murdered by a Chinese man who claimed that she refused to have sexual intercourse with him. The heinous act did not end with the murder.
The Chinese man admitted to cutting the transwoman’s body open because he “felt like playing” with her organs.
42-year-old Fu Tongyung said he met the victim, Woranan Pannacha, on Friday (April 25) at a beach in South Pattaya where they exchanged WeChat contacts. At that time, Fu thought Woranan was a woman by birth.
On the same night, both met at Fu’s rented room after agreeing to have sexual intercourse for 8,000 baht (approximately RM1,040).
Fu, however, said that Woranan later refused to engage in sexual activity with him, which prompted the Chinese man to ask to be refunded half of what he paid. Woranan refused, and both got into a physical altercation before Fu killed her and cut her open with a pair of scissors.
Woranan was cut open from her neck to her genitals
The housekeeper of the apartment also told the police that she heard an argument between Fu and Woranan, in which the latter was heard screaming, “Let me go! Don’t hurt me!”. The housekeeper then told the employer about the incident the next morning. They knocked on the door but had to enter with a spare key when no one answered, and discovered Woranan’s body lying in a pool of blood.
According to the housekeeper, Fu had reserved the room for a 1-week stay on April 25. Police also said the scene had been thoroughly cleaned, and there were barely any blood stains.
He was arrested by the police while attempting to clear immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport on April 26, around 1:45 PM. He was getting ready to escape to Kunming, China. CCTV footage shows Fu travelling by motorcycle taxi and tour bus towards Bangkok in an attempt to flee the country.
Premeditated murder?
CCTV footage also showed Fu doing some shopping before returning to his room, where the murder took place. This is what Fu purchased:
- One large rainbow-patterned bag
- One pair of scissors
- One pack of black garbage bags
- One pack of clear plastic bags
- One pack of zip ties
Based on his shopping, police believe this was premeditated murder.
Fu admitted to dragging Woranan’s body to the toilet after confirming her death, where he cut open her body and pulled out the heart. The police also confirmed that Woranan’s lungs were missing.
Investigations also showed that this was not Fu’s first visit to Thailand, but his third.
Fu, on the other hand, couldn’t confirm if he had a mental illness and told the police he had never sought a diagnosis.
Police are conducting a thorough investigation, coordinating with the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and relevant experts, as reported by Khaosod and The Bangkok Post.
