19-year-old Yap Xiao Tong went missing for 10 days before she was last seen in South Jinjang, Kepong. With a police report lodged and the search for her launched, Xiao Tong was finally found yesterday (April 25).

She is doing well but insisted that she never went missing because she just wanted to live independently.

In reports by China Press and Sin Chew, Xiao Tong said that she had disputes at home with her family members, and to avoid escalating the situation, she is now staying with her boyfriend somewhere in Kepong.

Xiao Tong also clarified that despite the arguments at home, she is still keeping in touch with her family members.

In the phone interview with the Chinese publications, Xiao Tong said she was baffled about why her family members would lodge a police report.

“The last time I spoke to them, they said they wouldn’t care about me anymore. I’m over 18 now, I can have my own ways of thinking, and I accept what they said to me.”

“In the meantime, I’m also grateful for how my parents have taken care of me,” Xiao Tong expressed.

The girl also said that after seeing the news about her “disappearance”, she had visited the police station to clarify the situation.

Xiao Tong also said that at the time being, she has no intention of going home, as she wants to live independently.
