“Prawn King” Umance Chong was previously under the spotlight after his investors exposed him for cheating. Following the saga, his wholesale mart (SuperM) closed down and he ventured into a new field.
Just several months ago, he decided to start another business (MF Travel) selling travel packages. As Covid-19 restrictions were lifted, many have been wanting to travel and with the help of Amber Chia, Umance has definitely gained much sales from it.
Unfortunately, the travel packages weren’t valid and many of the trips were cancelled. Many customers have since asked for a refund, but Umance has gone off the radar.
Just today (October 4, 2022), Amber Chia has posted an Instagram story regarding the issue and in her story, she mentioned,
“Recently, many of you have been asking me about Umance and unfortunately I have no idea because I am also one of his victims.
When he invited me to be his guest and advertise his new brand, I thought it would be safe as his brand liaises with the travel agencies themselves. I didn’t know there would be so many issues and to all the other victims, I’m so sorry and I will do my best to help contact Umance.”
Amber then mentioned that she has yet to receive her advertising fee for helping him promote his business and hopes that she will be able to solve this matter soon.
Many netizens were quick to comment on this matter and here’s what some of them said:
“She didn’t make proper decision. She only did it for money, and she should be held accountability. It’s because netizens believe you, hence they buy the things you endorse. You indirectly hurt your fans; you should have a sense of social responsibility.”
“I understand that she’s just trying to make ends meet. But she should accept jobs that has some sort of standard. It’s like seeing other influencers who accept betting company jobs, but they’re asking their fans to not bet. Should we be happy that they’re discouraging gambling or sad for the boss who spent so much and still wouldn’t get any business.”
“She’s voicing out because she didn’t receive her payment, if she received her payment, she wouldn’t even bat an eye.”
“I don’t believe this! There’s no way she doesn’t know.”
It’s always a great idea to do some research before purchasing something form a third party. We sincerely hope the affected parties can have this issue resolved as soon as possible.
