Taking to social media, Health D-G Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah shared that Singapore has reportedly witnessed an upsurge in new Covid-19 cases amidst Malaysia’s own upsurge of 7,234 cases.
Sharing a news report by CNA, in his status update Dr Noor Hisham writes, “Singapore reported 13,208 new Covid-19 cases as of Friday, comprising 13,046 local and 162 imported infections.”
Of the 13,208 cases reported, there were six fatalities taking the island nation’s death toll due to coronavirus complications to 866.
Shockingly the new numbers were a jump of 9,000 cases from the previous day’s number of daily cases.
As of Friday, Singapore has reported a total of 379,681 Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
Commenting on the new numbers, some netizens deduced that this is the norm that the world is made to live in when it comes to Covid-19.
One netizen commented, “We just have to accept that Covid-19 will eventually just pass us by like a normal flu.”
“We are to self isolate ourselves at home when infected. The world needs to move on. People need to move on.”
Let’s hope that the numbers will continue to go down especially with everyone getting their booster shots and choosing to stay home with the rise of new Covid-19 numbers.
