A 26-year-old food delivery rider named Koh was fined after secretly following a car to the driver’s apartment and intentionally damaging its side mirror.

According to CNA, he was upset after nearly crashing into a car driven by a 64-year-old from a merging lane while he was cycling along Grace Walk in the Serangoon, forcing him to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

Angry about what happened, Koh secretly followed the driver back to her apartment, telling security he was delivering food to a unit, as reported by Lianhe Zaobao.

Once inside, he went to the parking lot, found the car, and started punching and kicking the left side mirror until it broke.

He covered the repair cost in full

In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, the driver said he noticed his car’s left side mirror was broken and bent on November 17, 2024.

After checking the surveillance footage, he saw a man entering the apartment around 8 PM, wearing a mask, sunglasses, and a hoodie.

The driver lodged a police report on the same day, and police subsequently arrested Koh, as reported by CNA.

He has since fully compensated for the damage, covering the SGD 1,170 repair cost.

He was fined SGD5,000

In court, the food rider admitted he was in the wrong and begged the judge for understanding.

He argued that in a road accident, the driver might just get jailed, fined, or lose their license, but he could end up badly injured, bedridden, or even dead. Still, he promised this would be the last time he’d do something like this.

In the end, the judge fined him SGD5,000 and let him pay in instalments.
