Amidst the routine of school, unusual events like Hari Raya celebrations and the arrival of exchange students can make things exciting for members of a school.
Recently, a video shared on the Facebook page, Perak Press, showed how excited even the teacher of a school was in welcoming two exchange students from Italy.
In the video, the teacher from SMK Dato’ Panglima Perang Kiri in Tapah Road, Perak, introduced the two students, one boy and one girl.
She even gave them Malay names!
“This is Sebastian. Let’s call him Syamsul. Syamsul lah! And this is Axia!” she exclaimed.
Syamsul and Axia were both dressed in the typical Malaysian secondary school uniforms and sat in the classroom’s plastic chairs. Although they looked a bit shy, they still put on a smile as the teacher introduced them in the video.
This is the 15th time the school has hosted foreign exchange students, so we’re sure Syamsul and Axia will be well taken care of!
Netizens are amused
In the comments, netizens were amused at the names the teacher had given the exchange students.
“He just moved here and got the name Syamsul,” chuckled one netizen.
“How did Sebastian become Syamsul? It should be Sabarudin lah.”
“Why not name the girl Ira or Sarah? Why Axia?” another netizen laughed.
