Sabah Man Travels All the Way to Kuala Lumpur Just to Fill His Newly Bought Luggage with Gardenia Buns

It’s common for travellers to have a passion for collecting souvenirs from the places they visit. However, this guy seems to have mastered the art of packing light when it comes to bringing back souvenirs.

In a recent viral TikTok video by user @padilverse, he recounts his 18-hour experience as he and his friend takes on an unusual quest from Sabah to Kuala Lumpur.

The Sabahan man shares how he travelled all the way to Kuala Lumpur just to fill his newly bought luggage with Gardenia buns.

The video shows him booking flight tickets from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur. Upon reaching Kuala Lumpur, they checked into a hotel in Bukit Bintang for a quick rest before proceeding with their planned activities.

While going about his day, he mentions that he visited a mall where coincidentally a sale was taking place. He took the opportunity to purchase a brand new luggage.

He noted that,

“This is the luggage that we will be filling up later with Gardenia bread.”

The Gardenia buns are considered rare items in Sabah

It was later revealed that they had only purchased a luggage and socks during their entire time there.

Before heading back to Kota Kinabalu, the man stopped by a mart inside the airport to purchase Gardenia corn bread, which he claimed was very rare in his hometown.

“If you must know why Sabahans love this bread so much, it’s because they don’t sell it in Sabah. Even the sellers there always mark up the price because it’s considered a rare item.”
