Bungkus Kaw Kaw is now certified Halal by JAKIM, and it is certainly good news for our Muslim friends who can dine in without hesitation.
In September, JAKIM listed Bungkus Kaw Kaw (BKK) as one of the local eateries that have yet to obtain Halal certificates. In a statement, the food chain said the measure to obtain a Halal cert was taken to maintain halal integrity and provide assurance regarding food safety and quality.
“The halal status issued by JAKIM serves as an important benchmark for Muslim customers,” BKK said in the statement.
BKK also said that it aims to meet the diverse needs of Muslims by offering halal-certified authentic Malaysian favourite food and drinks.
“The halal certification holds particular importance in a country with a large Muslim population, ensuring that the food complies with Islamic dietary laws.”
According to Hiredly, Bungkus Kaw Kaw was established in 2018 with one vision: bringing the authentic taste of traditional Malaysian local drinks made from BKK’s secret family recipe to towns and cities across the country.
Earlier, JAKIM also listed Dolly Dimsum as one of the local eateries without Halal certification. The Dimsum eatery has since obtained Halal certificates from JAKIM for most of its outlets.
Last month, the government also revealed that about 57% of JAKIM’s Halal certificates were issued to non-Bumiputera operators, which involves around 5,449 companies.
