If you know your favorite celebrity is in your area and not far from you, would you rush to the scene to see them even for just a minute?
Just recently, the employer of a popular hotpot chain restaurant in KL was shocked to find that she missed out on the golden opportunity to meet her favorite celebrity. She was told by a few of her staff about a table of VIP guests who paid a total bill of RM2,000. For a hotpot meal, the price is definitely on the high side. Out of curiosity, the employer checked on the CCTV to find out who was the “high-profile” guest.
To her surprise, the guest was Louis Koo, a popular Hong Kong actor who is currently in Malaysia for the production of his latest movie.
The incident was initially shared on the Chinese platform, Xiao Hong Shu but the “encounter” was later shared on other social media, including Weibo.
The employer was baffled by the generation gap because none of her workers, who are mostly Gen Zs could recognise Louis Koo, who turns 53 this year.
“The kids really did not recognise him. Is this the so-called generation gap?”
The employer expressed her regret for letting the chance to meet Louis slide by and in the meantime, speaking of generation gap, she acknowledged that she probably wouldn’t have recognised all the stars that Gen Zs are “worshipping” today.
Louis, who has been in the industry for more than 30 years is currently filming 尾随 (Tailed) which has no release date at the time of writing. Netizens, on the other hand, were sad to see that Gen Zs could not recognise Louis, and others agreed that it’s common for certain people not to recognise every celebrity, especially if the person is not of their generation.
“My God. Did other guests not recognise him too,” to which the employer responded and said that Louis and his friends were seated in a VIP room.
“I think it’s common for your staff not to recognise him. Different generations, different celebrities who have your attention.”
“Honestly, if it wasn’t for my mum, I wouldn’t have known anything about Louis Koo.”
Louis Koo has gained massive popularity among many Malaysians, especially when he has at least 1 movie released in Malaysian cinemas every year. To our Gen Z friends, have you watched any of his movies?
As for the 80’s and 90’s babies, does this generation gap make you feel old?
