Police are currently in the process of nabbing a Human Rights Lawyer for further investigation after the lawyer was found responsible for summoning Malaysians to rally at Dataran Merdeka.

Named “Turun ke jalan: Demokrasi mati” or “To the streets: Democracy is dead”, the rally was organized without the permission of the police.

According to the Director of Criminal Investigation Department, Datuk Huzir Mohamed, investigation papers will be opened to probe the individual responsible.

“The lawyer in question issued a statement entitled “Turun ke jalan: Demokrasi mati” on her Twitter account inviting enraged Malaysians to convene at Dataran Merdeka today (last night).”

“In accordance with Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, the lawyer will be investigated for sedition.”

In a status uploaded circa 6.03 pm, a lawyer took to Twitter inviting angered Malaysians to rally at the possible betrayal in the process of electing a new Prime Minister.

The call was made following the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s decision to appoint Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the 8th Prime Minister.
