Police Officer Injured While Trying To Detain 16yo Mat Rempit Who Tried To Escape

A member of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) of the Seberang Perai Selatan District Police Headquarters (IPD) was involved in an accident yesterday morning while investigating claims of illegal racing.

Speaking with Harian Metro, the District Police Chief Superintendent Lee Chong Chern explained that the police department had received claims of illegal racing taking place at Kampung Tanjung Berembang at 1am in the morning. In response, two officers went to the location to investigate but all parties involved had fled after realising the police had arrived.

“URB members chased the motorcycle to the intersection of Jalan Tok Tuntong before 20-year-old Constable Muhammad Aiman ​​Nordin was involved in an accident,” he explained

Police officer Muhammad Aiman lost control of his motorcycle when a 16-year-old motorcyclist had kicked his vehicle in the midst of trying to flee, causing him to sustain injuries on his right hand and elbow as well as scratches on his face.

“Muhammad Aiman ​​had to be treated at the Sungai Bakap Hospital (HSB) and was reported to be in stable condition. The young man who kicked the motorcycle of the URB member involved was arrested immediately after the incident,” he said.

Further investigation on what happened is currently underway in accordance with Section 332 of the Penal Code.
