The police are actively investigating the case and working to track down a man who was seen harassing a local woman at a supermarket in Jenjarom.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the Kuala Langat District Police confirmed they received a report from the victim, a local woman, on December 9.
The man attempted to record under her dress
According to the report, while the victim was at a supermarket, she noticed a local man was attempting to secretly record under her dress.
“On December 16, 2024, the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters came across a Facebook post about the sexual harassment incident that supposedly happened in the Jenjarom area,” the statement read.
CCTV footage, which has been circulating online, backed up her story, showing the suspect holding his phone and lifting her dress to try and film her.
Efforts to track down the suspect are ongoing
In response, an investigation paper has been opened under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Additionally, the case falls under Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act, which provides for a fine not exceeding RM100 or imprisonment if convicted.
