Yesterday, an incident involving two police officers with a woman who claimed to be a high-ranked Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer went viral, with many Malaysians criticising the woman’s actions of scolding and belittling the policemen who were just doing their jobs.
Now, PDRM has released a statement regarding the incident, confirming that 2 investigation papers have been opened on the matter.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the police has received a report from a complainant who claimed that the woman scolded him for being noisy at a neighbour’s house.
The woman then introduced herself loudly as a civil servant and said that she could arrest the complainant on the grounds of creating a din.
Furthermore, the woman also allegedly threatened to hit the complainant while berating others at the scene.
In the same incident, the woman also berated the two Lance Corporal-ranked police officers after being asked to show her authority card as seen in the viral video.
PDRM confirmed that it has identified the woman in the viral video and she has been called to the Gombak District Police Headquarters for questioning.
Accordingly, two investigation papers have been opened on the incident. One investigation paper is for the report by the complainant under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
The other investigation paper is under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for obstructing the duties of a public servant and for behaving in an insulting manner.
Regarding the video going viral, Hussein Omar reminded the public to stop sharing the video and to refrain from comments that could threaten public order or interfere with investigations.
