A recent online post by a Malaysian man about how he was allegedly overcharged by a local restaurant seems to resonate with netizens.
As of the time of writing, the post has garnered over 5,100 likes and over 2,200 reposts on X (formerly Twitter).
RM71 for a plate of Colek and 2 glasses of Teh O Ais
The post, shared by X user @suns8t revealed how he was charged RM71 for a plate of Colek, a popular Kelantanese dish, and 2 glasses of iced tea.
Sharing a photo of the Colek in question, @suns8t asserted,
“What the heck a plate of Colek such as this is RM71? I’m being ‘knocked’. Won’t be coming here again.”
@suns8t didn’t reveal the exact location or name of the restaurant but did comment in the replies that the eatery is located at Kompleks Teruntum in Kuantan, Pahang.
Malaysians share prices of Colek at local eateries
In the replies to the X post, many people shared the same reaction as @suns8t about the RM71 price for the plate of Colek and 2 drinks, iterating that it was rather excessive.
One commenter shared his previous experience with an expensive plate of Colek elsewhere, whereby he was charged RM55 despite only taking sausages and other regular Colek ingredients which cost only up to RM3 each.
Meanwhile, another commenter did one better by sharing a photo of 3 plates of Colek with drinks he bought for a total of RM78 in Kuala Lumpur, which included prawns, squids, sausages, fried beef lungs, cekodok and a whole separate fruit Colek.
Another commenter also shared a photo of a plate of Colek he ate in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, which cost RM104.
As for the ingredients of the Colek he bought, @suns8t revealed in the replies that it only contained 1 piece of squid, 3 pieces of sausages and 6 pieces of lekor.
