Officers from the Jasin Municipal Council (MPJ) unknowingly stumbled upon a missing person when they encountered an elderly person walking alone during an operation in the Melaka town.

Taking to its Facebook page, MPJ shared they assisted the elderly man, who did not have any identification documents on him, only to discover that the man had been reported missing recently.

The local council wrote, “Members of MPJ’s Licensing and Enforcement Department found an elderly person walking alone while conducting an operation addressing abandoned livestock on Jalan Serkam.”

“The elderly person did not have any identification documents and could not remember the location of his residence, and was taken to the Bemban Police Station to ensure his safety and welfare. Based on information from the public, the next of kin were successfully contacted and informed of his whereabouts,” the statement added.

The man was holidaying in Melaka with his family when he went missing

It was then revealed that the elderly man, who is from Seremban, has been missing since Sunday (28 December). The man and his family were in Melaka for a vacation.
