A tragic incident took place in Ipoh, Perak yesterday (20 February) after a woman in her 20s was found dead inside a car parked at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital’s parking lot.
In a press release by the Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Yahaya bin Hassan, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) was alerted of the incident by one of the hospital’s security personnel.
Found unconscious inside the car
The security personnel notified the police after they found the woman in an unconscious state inside a car in the parking lot and suspected that she had lost her life.
Furthermore, PDRM asserted that the woman was found lying down on the rear passenger seats and with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department, the car doors were able to be opened.
Examinations by a medical officer at the scene confirmed that she had passed away.
The deceased was taking care of her father and wanted to get some rest
Initial investigations by the police found no sign of foul play, with the case classified as sudden death.
The police added that the deceased was taking care of her father who was warded at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
She was believed to have entered the car to get some rest and dozed off without opening the car windows.
The Ipoh District Police Chief thus advised the public to always ensure that the car windows are open if you intend to sleep inside a vehicle with the engines turned off or if the air-conditioning is broken as it can cause sudden death by lack of oxygen.
