Traffic arguments are dangerous because they involve moving vehicles. Although possible to be resolved amicably, they often can escalate very quickly due to pent up frustration or road rage of road users.
Last week, a video of a woman lashing out at an elderly man on the road in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur went viral. The video has been widely circulated and gained some judgmental comments from viewers.
Dressed in all white, she was shrieking hysterically at the man in the video while her mother, in black, held her back. Her mother hugged her and brought her to the side of the road so as not to block the other vehicles on the busy road.
At the same time, a few other road users can be seen scolding the elderly man who was dressed in a baju melayu and kain pelikat.
One side of the story
Since then, the woman, @Faafreaks took to her TikTok account to explain why she “became possessed” and yelled at the elderly man.
“I got mad at the man in the kain pelikat because he showed his middle finger at my mom. That’s why I became that upset.”
According to Faa, it all started when the man, who was behind her car on a congested road started honking. “I didn’t think too much about it as I was in my lane and could not move faster even if I wanted to,” said Faa.
Then, at a junction up ahead, the man cut into Faa’s lane, which caused Faa to retaliate. She then also cut into his lane and was honking at him while her car was behind his.
This ultimately caused the man to perform an emergency break, causing both Faa and him to get down from their cars to confront each other.
She claims that she was only asking him why he did an emergency break and telling him that it was dangerous when he started “raising his voice, mocking (me), and pushing my mum and I“.
“Then, a struggle ensued and I got really mad because my mom was hit in the head,” Faa said.

While this is just one side of the story, it can be a reminder to everyone that fights can be resolved amicably if we are more respectful of each other.
