A fifth-form student was recently found to have injuries in his right eye, allegedly as a result of being hit by a teacher at a secondary school in Sungai Ara.

According to MalaysiaGazette, who interviewed the father of the student, the boy was caught by his teacher smoking an electronic cigarette in the classroom while the teacher was teaching Science.

“I know my son is wild (mischievous), but this is not the way to teach and luckily, he is not blind. Following that, my son was taken to an ustaz who is said to be a discipline teacher’s assistant, for further action.”

“My son was interrogated before the discipline teacher claimed that the student had lied and proceeded to cane him. However, the cane hit his right eye and caused him to bleed,” he explained.

According to the lorry driver, his son had complained of pain before noticing that his hand had blood stains.

“Following that, the teacher in question realised that his actions resulted in injury to my son before the school took him to the clinic and the Balik Pulau Hospital for follow-up treatment,” he shared.

“At the moment, my son’s condition is stable but he needs to be monitored for five days before the doctor decides on further treatment,” he said.

He added that a police report regarding the incident will be made, and he and his wife will be meeting with the school for more information.
