Sometimes, the festive season is not just about upgrading your look with new clothes but also new hair colours for those with a bigger budget. However, a Malaysian girl’s excitement was short-lived when her new hair colour was criticised and judged by her aunties back in her hometown.

In a viral anonymous confession shared by Mamaclub, the girl chose blue as her colour of choice, and it was a decision made after a discussion with her mother.

“It has always been a colour that I’ve wanted to try, and I happen to love the outcome!”

“Blue? You look so lala!”

When she was back in her hometown for CNY, one of her aunties came to the house to look for the girl’s mother, but her attention quickly shifted to her blue hair colour. Let’s just say the aunty is not a fan of the colour, and it’s not just about the harmful chemical but also how it made her look in general.

“The youth today are getting out of hand! Colouring your hair harms your scalp. And it’s not a proper colour, you look lala! You’ll definitely get disturbed by the guys out there, I’m telling you.”

The more the aunty spoke, the more uncomfortable the girl’s mother got. From defending her daughter, the mother eventually changed her mind and asked her daughter to dye her hair black as soon as possible.

“Did you not hear what your aunty say? You look like lala!”

The girl, however, was not willing to recolour her hair, especially after spending RM500 for an outcome that she loved. She defended her decision, saying the colour is trending overseas, but her mother did not buy her story.

“You said it yourself, it’s trending overseas. We’re in Malaysia!”

Refusing to elevate the argument further, the girl stayed silent. At the end of her post, she urged all aunties to stop commenting further on everything which could lead to an argument.

“Can you control your ignorance? Do you have any idea how your words can ruin some connections?!”

If you have recently coloured your hair for the festive season, how has the reception been so far?
