If you aren’t aware, a Malaysian netizen recently landed in hot soup after he posted an insensitive comment on Facebook Live. The Facebook Live showed the firefighters working very hard in an operation to rescue a car, which plunged into the ocean from the Penang bridge last Sunday (20 January 2019).

Obviously, the insensitive comment didn’t sit well with other netizens who were also watching the FB live-stream. The netizen then went viral after a screenshot of his comment started circulating all over the internet. Be careful with what you say online, guys!

You can read his insensitive comment below:

Following that, he quickly realised his terrible mistake and made the decision to ask for forgiveness from the firefighters who were involved in the search operation, reported Siakapkeli.

In his apology, he wrote,

“I’m very sorry for my comment on the Malaysian firefighters. I have taken up the responsibility to apologise to the firefighters at Jalan Perak Penang. I’ve also asked for forgiveness from Tuan Ismail. I swear to never speak ill of any Malaysian officials anymore.”

He further said that Tuan Ismail explained the aforementioned case to him and other cases as well. He also shared that Tuan Ismail revealed the different difficulties firefighters go through whenever they are handling a case. Being a firefighter ain’t that easy.

He finally wrote,

“I hope others will not repeat my mistake and pass negative comments about the uniformed officials because they don’t know what these guys have to go through.”

“Once again, I extend my apology to all the uniformed officials in Malaysia.”

Well, it’s great that he has come to his senses and apologised to the firefighter. It’s not to easy to admit one’s mistakes.

On the other hand, kudos to Tuan Ismail and his team for accepting his apology; it was a very gracious thing to do. As for us, perhaps we should all be extra careful whenever we post a comment online.
