A local doctor took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) to shed light on one of the most commonly feared surgeries among pregnant women, the C-section, or cesarean section.

In his post, Dr. Samhan shared a screenshot of a conversation between a husband and wife, where the husband voices his “concerns” about his wife needing to undergo the procedure.

“I don’t want a damaged wife”

In the screenshot of the conversation, the soon-to-be father expressed his concerns upon learning that his wife was scheduled for a C-section.

He advised her against it, arguing that, given her age, a C-section might not be the best choice. He even went as far as saying he didn’t want a wife who would be “damaged” by the procedure.

He added,

“I’m better off marrying someone else who is much ‘healthier.'”

In response to the conversation between the husband and wife, Dr. Samhan explained that a C-section is often chosen when a baby lacks oxygen or has a weak heartbeat.

The doctor emphasised the danger and exhaustion a mother endures during hours of labour, especially when a normal delivery isn’t successful, which may lead her to opt for a C-section.

“Imagine a baby struggling to breathe because it’s in an inverted position. As a doctor or a husband, how can one stand by and let a mother endure such suffering and stick to a normal delivery if it isn’t working?” he added.

Thank you to all mothers!

Dr. Samhan advised that in such situations, prioritising the life and safety of both the mother and baby is crucial, even if a C-section is necessary.

He assured that undergoing the surgery won’t harm the mother’s body, rather, postpartum care is what truly matters.

“As both a husband and a doctor, all I can say is, may God bless all the mothers who bravely fight for their lives to bring new babies into the world.”
