Given the hot weather nowadays, many measures are being taken to ensure that the children in school can withstand the temperature.

Recently, a Standard 5 student was rushed to the hospital after allegedly being punished by his teacher to stand in the sunny field for more than two hours.

His mother, Mogahana, 35, said the teacher punished the child and his friends by making them stand in the field from 10 am to 12:50 pm on April 30.

“My child told me that he complained to the teacher about a student beating him, but the teacher punished my child by asking him to stand in the field.”

“My son told the teacher that he felt faint, but the teacher did not pay any attention,” she continued.

The mother also noted that when she brought her child home from school that day, he was very weak and had no appetite.

“After a while, he asked me to bring him to the hospital and just as we reached, he fainted.”

Mogahana said that her child was diagnosed with heat exhaustion by the doctor. According to Buletin TV3, the Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail also confirmed the diagnosis with the hospital.

The distressed other clarified that she was unsatisfied with the teacher’s actions, “I am not satisfied with the actions and explanation given by the teacher, not because I think that my child shouldn’t be punished but because it was too extreme and had affected my child’s health.”

She asked relevant authorities and the Ministry of Education to investigate this.

Meanwhile, PDRM said that the 37-year-old school teacher punished the victim and three of his friends to stand for 10 minutes.

The investigation paper has been referred to the DPP, and the case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.

Well, even adults will have difficulty standing in the sun now. What is your take on this? Let us know what you think.
