It seems that our Malaysian athletes are breaking records and winning competitions all over the world.
Recently, Malaysian breakdancer Sam Jee Lek, also known as Lego Sam, took to Instagram to announce that he and his team, FORMLESS Corp were crowned champions of international breakdancing competition, ‘Break The Floor 2023’.
In the post Sam wrote, “What a memorable night! We won @breakthefloor 2023. I still feeling unbelievable now I have this opportunity to be here and competing with the team. Thank guys for the trust and having me to be a part.”
The first-ever winner of the men’s breakdancing event in the 2019 SEA Games went on to praise the audience for their support.
“Look at the audience although they don’t understand breaking but they still gave 100% support. The vibe is unreal. What a great experience to be here.”
The Break The Floor annual competition is regarded as one of the most prestigious breakdance event in the world.
Every year it brings the best b-boys and b-girls in the world to the famous” palais des festivals” of Cannes (international movie festival), where the dancers battle to prove who is the best and win a prize.
“For insiders, it is a precious opportunity to admire and applaud reference dancer-athletes, to gauge oneself and to draw inspiration from the creativity of these artists. For others, the opportunity to learn more about a style of dance with a strong identity, now recognised as an Olympic discipline,” as written on its website.
The prize which was won by FORMLESS Corp was a cheque worth €3,000 (RM13,904).
Congratulations to Sam for winning the competition and thank you for putting Malaysia on the world map!
