The Asian Youth SAMBO Championships have just concluded in Lebanon, after a 2-day tournament between the strongest sambists sent from all over the world in recognition of FIAS, the International Sambo Federation.
The tournament involved 260 sambists from 16 countries and focused on competitions in Sports and Combat SAMBO held among men and women in both disciplines.
Sharing with WORLD OF BUZZ, the Malaysia Sambo Association (MSA) announced that they are proud to welcome home 2 bronze medalists, Mohamad Nur Iman bin Mohd Faizal in the 53kg Class and Akid Zunnurain bin Saiful Nizam in the 58kg Class.
They were accompanied by Head Coach Othman bin Mohd Nizam Yeo and Amirul Asraf bin Ab Razak.
Datuk Johnathan Wong, President of the Malaysia Sambo Association, stated, “We couldn’t be prouder of Nur Iman and Akid, who have worked hard to stand on that podium among the best.”
“We also acknowledge the entire team at MSA for making sure our athletes are prepared for the tournament – it’s all a team effort!”
Sambo continues to be one of Malaysia’s growing martial arts practised for sports or combat, also known to be similar to judo and wrestling. Its 5 values are respect, unity, excellence, trust and integrity, making it well respected and internationally recognised.
The MSA will continue to support Malaysia’s Sambo athletes as they represent Malaysia in such a proud manner.
They recently launched their gym in Cheras, where they accept adult training at RM150 and students at RM120, with a first-month free trial to encourage the SAMBO experience.
