A video shared via anthraxxx781 has been going around, showing a man making a payment after visiting a famous floating market in Thailand.

The video says the incident happened when a group of tourists from Brunei used a credit card to pay and got charged 80,000 baht (approximately RM10,470.97).

“We didn’t know it was a tourist trap”

The man admitted that it was partly his fault for not realising the area was a tourist trap and not checking it out beforehand.

“We were charged 80,000 baht for a package that included a private boat ride, elephant riding, and a photo with a tiger,” he shared.

He also explained that when it came time to pay, he used his credit card, admitting he uses it a lot for things like food, tickets, and e-hailing rides.

“Again, I know it’s my fault for doing that, especially since it’s a market and a risky move,” he added.

He was charged RM10k instead of RM1k

After the payment went through, the man realised there was an extra zero in the amount entered by the worker, but only after payment was processed.

“I was charged 83,460 baht (approximately RM10,923.84) instead of 8,346 baht (approximately RM1,092.38)! It was confusing, especially since the amount was in their currency,” he said.

When he noticed the mistake, he confronted the worker, but she allegedly refused to admit her mistake. This led to an argument where they had to go back and forth while using the receipt as proof.

“I had to call my bank in Brunei to check if the transaction could be voided, and thankfully, they said it could.”

“Why would I cheat my customer?”

In an interview with Khaosod Online, the shop owner finally spoke up about the issue, explaining that the worker was actually his 60-year-old mum who came to help out at the shop.

“My mum is 60 years old. She’s not that fluent with the system and accidentally added an extra zero, making it 83,460 baht. There’s no way I’d cheat a customer of 80,000 baht. Who does that? Aren’t you scared the customer will report you and you’ll end up in jail?” the owner said.
