Entrepreneur and celebrity chef Khairul Aming has recently become a topic of discussion among netizens, with some accusing him of shifting his focus towards a more “capitalist game.”
According to a screenshot of the comments, one netizen said Khairul would be better off focusing on opening a second branch of his restaurant, Rembayung, which they believe would receive more “win-win” support than “partnering with the super-rich.”

Meanwhile, another individual remarked that Khairul is “a true capitalist at heart”, suggesting that the real issue lies with those who are “overly obsessed” rather than Khairul himself.
Khairul has since responded to the remarks made against him, saying that he was saddened to see such comments.
“Entrepreneurs in other countries are able to grow their businesses, but when we, as local entrepreneurs, try to do the same, somehow there’s always an issue.
We want local entrepreneurs to grow and move forward, but at the same time, there’s this capitalist sentiment being attached to it. The profits from a business like this benefit everyone — the employees, suppliers, vendors, delivery riders, customers, the country through taxes, zakat collections, and so on,” he wrote.
“I’m not a capitalist, I’m doing this for Malaysia”
However, despite the criticism he received, Khairul remained positive and instead apologised if his business had somehow upset or offended anyone.
“Honestly, it’s sad to see things turn out like this. I’m also happy to share whatever knowledge I have so that we can all learn and grow together. If me running this business has somehow upset or offended you, I apologise.”
On a separate note, Khairul was also seen celebrating during a TikTok Live after his ‘Sambal Nyet’ business surpassed RM4 million in sales in Malaysia.
During his speech, he could be heard saying:
“I’ve already said I’m not a capitalist, but I’m doing this for Malaysia.”
