A woman tragically died on Wednesday, January 1, after being stabbed several times by her own husband in Dusun Wesawak, West IIngei Preparatory Village, South Tanimbar District.
According to Sinar Harian, the man from Tanimbar Islands Regency lost his temper and stabbed his wife to death because she refused to hug him.
He was intoxicated at the time
The Head of Criminal Investigation for Tanimbar Islands, AKP Handry Dwi Azhari, confirmed the incident and said the suspect has been arrested.
He explained that the stabbing happened when the victim refused to hug the suspect, who was drunk at the time.
The rejection led the suspect to grab a machete and stab the victim several times, including in the shoulder. Despite the victim’s attempt to escape, she unfortunately passed away.
“The suspect has been arrested by Tanimbar Islands police and will be charged,” he added.
The suspect is now facing a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.
