A 17-year-old girl was questioned by police after her dad filed a report against her for trying to poison him at the start of Ramadan.

The suspect, identified as GN, had mixed poison into her dad’s meal, which he was supposed to eat to break his fast on March 1 in Bone, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, as reported by Sinar Harian.

He noticed something off about the food

However, the plan didn’t work out because her dad got suspicious when he noticed something off about the food.

Bone Police Public Relations Officer Iptu Rayendra shared that the man didn’t waste any time and threw the food away the moment he realised it had a strange smell.

“The man immediately threw the food away because of its strange smell. He also reported the incident but refused to press charges since his daughter is still underage,” Iptu explained.

The motive behind her actions remains unknown

Iptu further revealed how the poison the girl had used was Sidamethrin. According to Petrosida Gresik, Sidamethrin is an insecticide with sipermetrin as its active ingredient, usually used to get rid of pests on different types of crops.

He added that the suspect admitted to her actions and revealed that her boyfriend had instructed her to do it.

“She was briefly questioned before being returned to her family, who declined to proceed with the report. The real motive behind her actions remains unclear,” he added.
