A Malaysian man recently brought his “girlfriend” back home to his family in Pontian, Johor, but things took an unexpected turn.
Hidden beneath the hijab and her purdah (veil), the “girlfriend” turned out to be a MAN.
In a viral Facebook post which has since been removed, Maya Syuhada Rosley, who is the sister to the young man, said her brother met the woman on a dating application three weeks ago, and the “girlfriend” introduced herself as Hidayah, who is a Sabahan but lives in Kuala Lumpur. She claimed to be an orphan and has no other siblings.
Hidayah expressed her desire to celebrate Aidilfitri with Maya’s family in Pontian, Johor, on the grounds that she had no one in Kuala Lumpur.
Maya’s family opened their arms wide to welcome this special guest. The day before arriving there, Hidayah managed to tell Maya that her body size was a bit large besides admitting her tomboyish personality.
Maya began to have suspicions after receiving Hidayah’s picture.
With Hidayah’s physique that looked like a ‘mother’, Maya felt very strange and couldn’t help but wonder – Is she the wife of another man? Or maybe she ran away from home? Is Hidayah a criminal?
That night, Hidayah went to bed late because she spent more time in front of the television than going to the kitchen. She took off her veil, but when Maya’s sister wanted to see her face, the girl immediately ran to the bathroom. While she was in bed to sleep, Maya’s mother managed to ask Hidayah to take off her veil.
However, the girl said that she was used to sleeping with the veil on. Hidayah, who was soundly asleep, did not realise that her veil had been taken off.
The potential future daughter-in-law, who was thought to be a beautiful woman, turned out to be a real man.
The family also managed to find the person’s IC, which revealed his real name and gender. He has been handed over to the police for further action. When police asked why the man dressed in such a way, he claimed that he was a “khunsa” (a person with both genitalia).
Throughout the weeks that Maya’s younger brother had spent time on video call with Hidayah, he had never seen the latter’s face.
As for how the situation went unnoticed by the young man and the family, they suspected that Hidayah had hypotised them. The family, however, has no idea as to why Hidayah wanted to follow the young man home to Pontian.
