A couple of months ago, Malaysians took to social media to kickstart a campaign to urge the government to reject the offer to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games. And, the Malaysian government agreed with the people.
Now, would Malaysians agree with the Malaysian government for turning away the opportunity to host the next year’s Formula E-Prix grand finale?
Former Head of Policy and Planning Division, Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) Operations Group, Wan Agyl Wan Hassan, took to his LinkedIn page to share the news as well as his disappointment.
He wrote, “I’m deeply saddened to share that we have decided to withdraw from hosting the Formula E race. As a proponent of sustainable transportation and innovative urban mobility solutions, this decision is a significant step back for our country.”
“Formula E represents more than just a race; it’s a platform for advancing electric vehicle technology, promoting sustainable practices, and showcasing our commitment to a greener future. Our participation would have bolstered our standing in the global movement towards eco-friendly urban transportation.”
Despite the disheartening news, he urges Malaysia to keep striving for betterment.
“While this news is disappointing, it also underscores the need for continued advocacy and investment in sustainable transport initiatives. Let’s keep the momentum going and strive for a greener, more sustainable future for all,” he added.
