A Malaysian TikToker and influencer @imranbard recently visited Thailand and shared some details of the trip on Instagram, including his experience feeding piglets milk on a farm in Khao Yai.
Imran also shared some pictures of him posing on the farm and other places, but photos of him feeding piglets have become the “centre of attention”, with social media users having A LOT to say about his decision to “mingle” with the piglets.
According to religious beliefs, Muslims are not allowed to consume pork or touch the animal.
However, a Muslim preacher, Da’i Wan established that giving food to dogs or pigs is permissible as long as the Muslim givers don’t touch the animals.
“It is actually a noble practise, especially if the animals are needy or sick,” Da’i Wan said in an Instagram post.
“We can’t touch pigs, doesn’t mean we can’t treat them right”
Imran’s followers, on the other hand, had mixed reactions about him feeding the swine, with some criticising him for that, while others defended his act of giving food to an animal.
“It saddens me more to see this.”
“Is it that great to feed milk to the piglets?”
“It’s embarrassing to know how others might perceive Malaysian Muslims. Our religion has never taught us not to treat animals well. He didn’t even touch them.”
“I’ve never thought feeding pigs is Haram. No wonder many dogs get beaten because most of you have this kind of mindset.”
“It saddens me to see some mentalities here. Yes, Muslims are forbidden to eat pork and touch pigs, but that doesn’t mean we can’t treat them right. They deserve to be loved too.”
What does Imran think of the experience?
In response to one of the comments, Imran responded by describing the experience, saying,
“Even if I don’t post this, ‘pigs’ are everywhere.”
“I posted because this was my first time feeding the piglets, it was a beautiful experience for me, but others may not feel the same.”
