KPJ Has Suspended Individuals Involved in Kolam Incident & Apologises to All Malaysians
Respect and understanding of each other’s cultures are important to maintaining harmony in this multicultural country. A recent incident where the Deepavali decoration, Kolam was stepped on has disappointed and enraged many Malaysians.
The incident is believed to have taken place in KPJ Hospital, Klang, and just yesterday (October 31), the hospital responded via an official statement that revealed the fate of the KPJ staff member.
An apology to all Malaysians
First and foremost, KPJ Klang publicly apologised to all Malaysians, particularly the Indian community for the unfortunate incident. KPJ Healthcare Berhad expressed its disappointment over the irresponsible acts and said that the individuals involved have been suspended at the time being for further investigations.
A police report has also been lodged and KPJ will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities on the matter.
“KPJ Healthcare does not condone such acts and in no way does it reflect our culture, values or our practices”, the organisation said.
The healthcare service provider also assured the people that it celebrates and upholds diversity and inclusion of the varied cultures in Malaysia.
In a previous statement, KPJ Klang made it clear that they do not condone any act of disrespect among its staff within the compound of its hospital. If the individuals are found guilty, they may face jail time of 2 to 5 years for the attempt to harm the state of harmony and unity. KPJ will further update the matter via its official website.
Hopefully, this will serve as a solid reminder to all Malaysians about the importance of maintaining harmony within the community. One act may seem small and irrelevant to you, but it might appear as something major and insensitive to others, especially when it comes to cultures.
