A dream faculty for all anime and manga lovers?!
Kaishi Professional University, a university in Niigata, Japan is launching a Faculty of Anime and Manga. According to Astro Awani, this faculty has been approved by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
In this newly introduced faculty that will officially launch in April 2021, students get to learn directly from animators, directors, and professional manga artists. They will learn the theories and practicalities needed within 600 hours of study.
Students who are interested can send in their applications starting 1 December 2020, and the first admission test will be held on 19 December 2020. The enrollment capacity of the faculty is 80 students.
According to Kaishi Professional University’s portal, the faculty aims to develop professionals with planning and production capabilities that are directly linked to business development.
With that, graduates can pursue careers like animation director, manga artist, character planner, illustrator, and game creator, and animation researcher in the future.
