JUST IN: Only 10% Of Employees In Selected Sectors Will Be Allowed To Work In Office

With the rising number of cases and the implementation of the CMCO in Sabah, Labuan, Selangor, KL and Putrajaya, the government has advised for workers in both government and private sectors to work from home.

Earlier on today, MITI issued out a media statement that said all employees in management and supervision roles MUST work from home starting 22 October.

However, taking into account of how certain roles are needed in the office, MITI has allowed a maximum of 10% of workers in the following industries to be in the office. The industries are:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Governance
  • Law
  • ICT
  • Planning

These employees are only allowed to be in the office for a maximum of four hours per day (10am till 2pm) and three days per week.

Companies do not need to fill in any applications for this. A permission letter for their employees who need to go to the office will suffice.

As for the planning of work from home hours, MITI leaves it to the companies’ discretion as different companies have different needs.
